As many have over the last decade or so, fell back in love with old skool production style of MIDI chaining hardware and went fully DAWless (or at least mostly, lol) at the beginning of ’21 with the MPC One being a perfect fit for my desk, and my budget.
With the MPC I feel creatively freed from the mouse and keyboard methodology of editing and find mixing and controlling all my gear live a much more intriguing challenge, especially with lots of new bad-ass additions to the studio (ie., Arturia MatrixBrute + Microfreak, ASM Hydrasynth Desktop, Elektron Digitone and Digitakt, TB-3, V-Drums) taking my sound to another level!
Plus, rather than replace my long time-shelved gear, with a will to revive them and perseverance with a soldering iron, managed to restore my old MC 505 and Virus B and despite having no more room for gear, was able to come up with a super sexy custom mounting setup on my V-Drums to complete the chain.
